Eric Hickey is a core faculty member of the doctoral program in Forensic Psychology at Walden University.

As former dean of the California School of Forensic Studies at Alliant International University and professor emeritus at California State University, Fresno, Dr. Eric Hickey has taught numerous courses on the psychology of crime.

Some of the topics covered include:

• serial and mass murder
• criminal paraphilia and sexual predators
• crime scene investigation
• psychopathy and criminal personalities
• threat assessment and risk management
• violence prevention at school and in the workplace
• victimology.

An international survey identified Dr. Eric Hickey as one of the top 30 practicing forensic experts in the world. He has taught seminars in countries in Europe, Asia and North America and has trained VIP protection specialists in Israel in stalker profiling and conducting threat assessments and interventions.

Eric Hickey has also taught seminars at several universities and colleges, and supervises theses and dissertations on current topics in forensic psychology.

Dr. Eric Hickey has considerable field experience working with the criminally insane, psychopaths, sex offenders, and other habitual criminals. He is a consultant to private agencies and testifies as an expert witness in criminal and civil cases involving child and adult sex offenses, criminal paraphilia, stalking, homicide, domestic violence and serial crimes.

His expertise has been featured in dozens of television documentaries.

A former consultant to the FBI’s UNABOM task force, Dr. Eric Hickey assists local, state and federal law enforcement with training and investigations, as well as cold case file reviews.

Dr. Hickey is currently the editor-in-chief of the Journal of Police and Criminal Psychology (JPCP).
