Biography

Dr. Geoffrey Writes is an international scholar and business executive with extensive expertise in finance, economics, corporate strategy, and organizational decision-making.

Before entering academia, Dr. Writes built a distinguished international career in senior financial and strategic leadership roles with organizations including the European Central Bank, the United Nations, Evonik Industries, Verizon, Bank of America, Lufthansa, and several multinational technology companies. His professional experience spans corporate finance, international business, investment analysis, strategic planning, financial reporting, and enterprise risk management.

Alongside his executive career, he has taught extensively at undergraduate and graduate levels across Europe and the United States, delivering courses in corporate finance, international economics, managerial accounting, business analytics, financial markets, strategic management, research methods, and organizational behavior.

Areas of expertise

Dr. Writes is a member of the faculty of the Master of Science in Behavioral Economics, where he integrates behavioral science with financial decision-making, strategic management, and economic analysis under conditions of uncertainty. He also teaches in the Master of Science in Anti-Fraud Behavioral Analysis, examining the behavioral drivers of financial misconduct, corporate fraud, risk assessment, and governance. His expertise contributes to the Master of Science in Psychology of Negotiation, particularly in the areas of strategic negotiation, executive decision-making, and international business, while his extensive experience in corporate governance, ESG reporting, sustainable finance, and long-term value creation provides a strong foundation for the Master of Science in Sustainability, connecting behavioral science with responsible leadership and sustainable organizational performance.

Dr. Writes holds a PhD and an MPhil from the University of Surrey (United Kingdom), an MBA and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from City University of Seattle, as well as specialized qualifications in airline operations and management from Lufthansa Business School. His academic background also includes studies at the London School of Economics and Political Science.
