Evidentia University is pleased to be part of the 10th Global Pensions Programme, titled ‘Pensions: Solutions for Longer Societies‘ held at the headquarters of the Inter-American Development Bank.
The event, which took place on June 20th and 21st, 2023, brought together renowned experts in the field of pensions, including Nobel laureates in economics such as Robert Merton and Oliver Hart, as well as distinguished professors and ministers. Among the notable presenters was Diego Valero PhD, one of the professors in our Master’s program in Behavioral Economics at Evidentia University.
Throughout the program, the increasing importance of addressing the challenges posed by population aging and its impact on pension systems worldwide was emphasized. There was a strong emphasis on the need to design effective and sustainable solutions that ensure a secure and dignified financial future for future generations.
A recurring idea that emerged during the event was the application of behavioral economics principles to tackle these challenges. Experts highlighted the importance of developing pension systems that encourage automatic savings, simplify investment options, and provide personalized, clear, and easily understandable information and solutions. In addition, the use of incentives and persuasive messages to promote appropriate savings behaviors was emphasized.
Evidentia University recognizes the relevance of deepening our understanding of the potential of behavioral economics interventions. We are proud to have been invited to be part of this prestigious conference and extend our gratitude to Prof. Diego Valero, PhD, and the Inter-American Development Bank for providing us with this unique opportunity.
We are convinced that the study and application of behavioral economics will be crucial in designing effective and sustainable solutions in the field of pensions. Our university is committed to contributing to the development of a secure and dignified financial future for future generations, and events like the Global Pensions Programme provide us with the opportunity to exchange knowledge and perspectives with renowned experts in the field.
